Chevrolet's popular compact car arrives at this year's New York auto show with a fresh face. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze receives a new nose, as well as some interior updates and new technologies.
The primary changes concern the front fascia, where the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze adopts the split-grille look of the larger Chevrolet Malibu and Impala. Gone is the car's prior small, single grille opening. The lower air intake and foglight surrounds have been revised, too, and Chevrolet says that it will offer new paint colors when the car goes on sale this fall.
The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze's interior benefits from a few ergonomic changes. The door-lock switches migrate from the center stack to the door panels, the trunk-release switch moves to the center console, and the cupholders have apparently been redesign so it's easier to get your venti-sized Starbucks in and out of them.
Other interior upgrades concern connectivity. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze receives the Siri Eyes Free mode that allows Apple iPhone users to speak commands while keeping their hands on the wheel. The car's Bluetooth connectivity now reads text messages aloud, and the Cruze will also add a 4G LTE wireless hotspot so passengers can connect to the internet.
There are no changes under the hood, leaving 2015 Chevrolet Cruze buyers to pick between a 138-hp, 1.8-liter inline-four engine, a 138-hp 1.4-liter turbo-four, and a 151-hp 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four.
Although these changes seem minor, they keep the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze fresh for another few years until the all-new version of the compact sedan spotted by our spy photographer makes its debut. Moreover, the Cruze remains the second best-selling General Motors car in the U.S. -- it trails only the Chevrolet Silverado -- so it's no surprise Chevrolet has little interest in making drastic mid-cycle changes to the model.
