Dodge Launches One-Year Lease For Challenger, Charger

Dodge will offer an unusual leasing proposition for buyers eager to get behind the wheel of the Challenger coupe or Charger sedan. The new program, called Double-Up, allows customers to lease a 2014 Challenger or 2014 Charger for one year, and then upgrade to the 2015 models when they become available.
The Double-Up program allows customers to sign a 12-month lease on one of the 2014 cars -- the hot SRT models and the affordable Charger SE are excluded -- and then switch to a 36-month lease of the 2015 version for the same payment. So long as customers upgrade their lease at the same Dodge dealership, they won't have to pay an additional down payment. The idea is to move the "old" 2014 models now, rather than having them linger at dealerships until the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger arrive.
"If you have your eye on a new Challenger or Charger, there's no need to wait for the new models to arrive," Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a statement. "This is our way of thanking our loyal Charger and Challenger customers, and extending this offer to any new customers longing to get into one of these iconic muscle cars."
According to Automotive News, Dodge has an agreement that Enterprise Holdings will take the off-lease 2014 cars as rentals after the year-long lease ends. That is reportedly intended to help prevent the 2014 cars going to auction for lower prices.
Dodge plans to reveal updated versions of the Challenger and Charger later this week at the 2014 New York auto show. The automaker teased the cars' noses and instrument clusters, and said in a statement that the 2015 Dodge Charger will have, "a full-body makeover with nearly every single body panel being resculpted." Look for details on the updated cars later this week.
