2015 Ford Mustang GT Adds Standard Electronic Line-Lock

Customers looking to frequent the drag strip with their new 2015 Ford Mustang GT can now do so armed with yet another race-inspired feature. In addition to launch control, Ford will include an electronic line-lock as standard on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.
The new standard electronic line-lock will give drag-racing customers yet another competitive edge. If the 2015 Ford Mustang GT’s burly 5.0-liter V-8 wasn’t enough, with its 420-plus hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, the electronic line-lock will make it much easier to unleash all of that power directly from the starting line.
With the system activated, drivers can release the brake pedal while revving the engine; the 2015 Ford Mustang GT’s hydraulic control unit will automatically disengage the rear brakes while keeping the front brakes locked. As a result, drag racers can remain stationary at the starting line while spinning the rear tires, the tires to warm so they'll have optimum traction for a launch. Or, of course, the feature can be used to show off to your friends by performing a giant burnout.
“Whether a customer wants to take weekend road trips, go road racing or compete in grassroots drag racing, we aim to maximize the driving experience for everyone,” said Ford Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak in a statement. “With electronic line-lock, customers who drive their Mustangs to work all week and then compete on the weekends will appreciate not having to modify their brake systems to be able to do effective tire prep at the drag strip.”
What drivers might not appreciate, however, is the risk they take by choosing to race their 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Ford says that racing will effectively void the vehicle’s warranty, and warns that the line-lock function shouldn't be used outside of a race track. In other words, Ford says you perform burnouts at your own risk.
