2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Country HD Announced

The Chevrolet Silverado’s most luxurious High Country trim makes its way onto the 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty versions of this pickup truck for 2015, offering a luxurious interior and a chromed-up exterior to the HD trucks’ already impressive towing and payload capabilities.

The successful Chevrolet Silverado High Country 1500 debuted when the light-duty truck was redesigned for 2014, and sales of this high-lux truck were strong enough for Chevrolet to extend this trim level to the new heavy-duty Silverado which debuted last fall. This will be the first premium heavy-duty pickup from Chevrolet, as GMC has traditionally taken the reigns in this arena with the GMC Sierra Denali range of trucks. The High Country trim level will be available on 2500HD and 3500HD models in crew cab models with either rear- or four-wheel drive.

Chrome features heavily on the Silverado High Country HD’s exterior, where it adorns the grille, the wheels, and the running boards. There are also prominent High Country badges throughout, body-colored front and rear bumpers, and a CornerStep rear bumper which eases access to the bed. The interior of the High Country HD is adorned with saddle brown leather, a Bose premium audio system, Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system, and heated and cooled front seats. If that’s not enough kit, an optional High Country Premium Package adds a heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, and a driver alert package with a full suite of active safety technologies.

Don’t think that the luxury quotient of the Silverado High Country HD diminishes these trucks’ capability, though, as the High Country models feature the same tow ratings and payload capacities as standard Chevrolet Silverado HD models. Two powertrains are available: a 6.0-liter V-8 with 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel making 397-hp and 765 lb-ft of torque. Single- and dual-rear wheel models are available on 3500HD High Country models, and the Duramax diesel makes for a maximum tow rating of 22,900 lbs with a fifth wheel and 19,600 lbs for conventional towing.

The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Country HD will go on sale this summer. Expect pricing to follow a similar strategy as the 1500 High Country, which costs $4295 more than an equivalent LTZ crew cab model.
